Description
Every spring for a very short time these beautiful migrating birds stop by our part of the mountains for a "rest stop" before moving on to parts west of hear where they will nest. It's another one of the welcome splashes of color like the blooming flowers that we get to see here in the blue ridge mountains of Virginia in Spring. It's like a little reward for surviving the cold muted palette of winter.

These birds are gorgeous to the eye. Right now, I have a pan full of seed with several of these birds in each. My husband calls them "pretty boys"--and they are. You did a nice capture of his feathers, the gleam in his eye, and right down to his toenails. Thanks for sharing.

I just uploaded the Mrs. Grossbeak too. She's not so flashy but she's pretty too :)
